The Official 'Black Dog Tour' Launch
In 2008, the then 38 year old Jerry Farsoun flew more than 12,000kms in an international aviation record making world first, solo and unassisted in a PowerChute in a bid to reduce the stigma and raise awareness of depression with a major emphasis on suicide prevention.
In 2012, Mr Farsoun is doing it again but this time with the addition of a ground crew and air-passengers to bring about more awareness of the services that will be made available through the website and a toll free number.
Overdownunder is a national and annual initiative open to all members of the general public, aimed at combating the stigma and raising awareness of depression.
This flight is aimed at generating support and awareness for a new and free video conferencing and telephone counselling crisis service for those who suffer from depression, are exposed to bullying, and/or are at risk of suicide, carers of those at risk and people bereaved by suicide. This will mark the beginning of a 10 year national and annual event.
Overdowunder II
Jerry has started writing the book on the 2008 flight set to be released in the near future but what's more exciting is, he's doing it again, the flight that is.
Amid the writings and looking back at the ground travelled, Jerry realised that his work was not over and thus ODU II has been given life.
